So here he is, the very first character of my future comic is revealed!

Kaii is a jyoti (jee-oh-tee) residing on the planet, Austaria. Jyoti come in many different colors and patterns and their species have many variants.

Kaii was hatched and raised by his "chast dushi" or soul partner. When an Austarian raises any intelligent being of another species such as the jyoti, they become so attatched that if parted, they would die.

Kaii stands 7 ft tall and has a 17 ft wingspan. Most of his body is covered in soft downy feathers except for his feet, hands, and wings. The feathers on his legs and arms gradually blend into hard but soft scaley skin. He has feathers on his wings along with a thick elastic membrane. The underside of the wing only has feathers on the front shoulders to his wrists at which it starts turning into scales. He also has larger feathers on the end of his tail which aids in flight and also on the top of his head. When excited, happy, or threatened, he can raise these feathers. When raised, the feathers look like those on a harpey eagle.

He has a finger, a thumb, and 4 wing fingers on each wing. The thumbs are opposable and he is very good at manipulating objects.


His home is in the Tree Village of Austaria near the ancient sink holes and the holy mountain city. The trees they live in are hundreds of feet tall and look a lot like giant bonzai trees, all twisted and intertwining. The forests are lush and dense made up of tropical furns and flowers.

Kaii is very affectionate and wise and enjoys lounging on lower tree branches watching the native wildlife but most of all, he loves rolling around on the lush moss covered forest floor, stirring up the butterflies and birds. He is very much like a kitten at heart.

He lives with his soul partner, Kaori, high up in the Tree Villiage in their own seed pod facing the holy city on Mount Munkaii.
